Finding a good campsite

Finding a good campsite can make your camping trip the other way around from unpleasant to enjoyable. Take your time and do your research before choosing a campsite. You may need to read reviews about several campsites and choose the one which suits your family the best and suits the experience you want to grab.

Make reservations beforehand to avoid last minutes cancellations. But even with a prior reservation finding an even camping spot is essential. We recommend you explore the camping area by yourself before setting up your tent. Find a level and even spot with a shade and a spot that is slightly elevated from the normal campground because some campgrounds can turn into flooding areas due to heavy rain.

Do your research prior and get an idea of the rules and regulations which applies to camping,

Choose the correct tent

If you want to make tent camping more comfortable, choosing the correct tent is also plays a major role. Mainly two things to consider when choosing the correct tent.

  • Capacity – Essentially you need to consider the size of the tent. Too smaller tents can be very uncomfortable due to lack of enough space. Consider the number of campers who are going to stay in the same tent and choose your tent accordingly.

Too bigger tents can provide enough space, yet these tents are hard to carry and tent space can be cool and very hard to keep the warmth inside.

  • Weather/Season – Take the weather of the camping area and the season into account before buying your tent because your tent should be able to protect you and withstand the weather if there are any sudden weather changes.

Apart from that, you may need to consider the price and durability of the tent. Durability depends on the tent material.

Camping bed – Turn a pool float into a camping sleeping pad

First thing first, it is important to choose the correct sleeping bag to make tent camping more comfortable. Most of the campers use sleeping bags with a few blankets as their camping bed but here us out, you can sleep much comfortably if you use a pool float as your sleeping pad. We love this hack since deflated plot float takes a small space and is easier to carry.

Especially kids will love this tip and they won’t struggle to fall asleep. Try to find a pool float that fits into the back seat of your vehicle so if you get sudden weather changes like rain or floods you can use that pool float to sleep in your vehicle.

Roll your clothes and pack

When hiking and camping we try our best to minimize the things we have to pack. Having to carry several camping packs is a very frustrating thing since we only have very limited space it’s not practical.

This is a super famous hack among travelers to roll and pack your outfits by each day. This requires minimum space in your pack. Apart from that, by rolling your outfits you can save your things from getting messed up.

Keep your toilet paper dry and sealed

Some of the most famous campsites have well-facilitated toilet facilities. But it is important to take your toilet paper just in case to avoid any accidents.

We recommend you bag your toilet paper rolls to keep them dry. It is best if you could seal sanitary items and hygiene items you need.

Don’t forget your camping planner

Planning a camping trip is a tough activity since you have to consider every possibility and plan several activities which fit everybody. A camping planner is very essential for us because we depend on our entire trip on that.

We consider a camping planner as a good investment since the last thing we want is to miss anything we planned. According to our experience having camping, the planner is such a stress reliever for us. We can make sure that we haven’t missed anything that we should pack and any place we should miss according to the time.

There are various kinds of camping and trip planners you can choose whichever seems suits for your requirement. Not so expensive on the other hand.

 Make tent floor more comfortable

To maximize your comfortableness while tent camping another thing you can do is make the tent floor more comfortable. Hard earth under your tent can be colder and uncomfortable. When you are camping you can take more blankets with you or use form floor tiles. This will also help you to keep the dirt and mud and dirt out of your tent.

It also makes your tent cozier. Moreover, you can use yoga mats or bath mats for the same reason which are light in weight and easy to pack. Soften tent floor will aid a night of good sleep.

Setting up tent light is a must

To make your tent much cozy and homey we recommend you change the lighting of the tent. To fill your tent with a soft light what you can do is fill a jug with water and wrap your headlamp around it. We assure you kids will love this idea. You also can use your transparent water bottle to make this camp light.

Camping lanterns, solar-powered rechargeable lights, or twinkle lights are also some good choices for this. These lights and lanterns can be expensive.

But the first method is entirely inexpensive since you already have a headlamp and it is more DIY and will be fun to set up with your kids. This will make the tent a not-so-scary place for kids – and adults –  who are afraid of the dark.

Heat your sleeping bag

A cold tent and a cold bed disturb your sleep and it is one of the main issues of tent camping. But there is a much easier way to overcome this problem. Our favorite method to heat our sleeping bags is to fill a water bottle with warm water and keep it down in our sleeping bags closer to our bodies. This will provide the warmth that you need to have a good sleep and it will surely give you a cozy and warm feeling.

If you are afraid to keep a hot water bottle inside your kids’ sleeping bag then you may want to fill up the bottoms of their sleeping bags with clothes and keep the hot water bottle, but don’t forget to remove the water bottle before your kids jump into their sleeping bags. Additional clothing in the bottom will help to provide warmth and they won’t get cold feet.

Adjustable belts as sleeping bag straps

Handling a sleeping bag is quite a two-man job these days. Trust me when I say I know the struggle of rolling a sleeping bag back in. Use an adjustable belt to secure your sleeping bags. I can assure you it will ease your job. Roll the sleeping bag and the belt goes around it adjust your belt tight and make it onto a tight roll which will need less space.

Bathroom schedule

We hate it when we have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom. But when nature calls it is not healthy to ignore it for a longer period. Especially parents get frustrated when they have a couple of kids whose bathroom schedules are different.

Try to use the bathroom twice before you go to bed. This will decrease the chances that you’ll have to get up in the middle of the night from your warm and cozy bed to step outside to the cooler bathroom.

Also, try to limit your water consumption in the evening especially for your kids. Take your kids to use the bathroom a few minutes before they hit the bed.
